“WHERE IS THE PROMISE OF HIS COMING?”
II Peter 3:4
Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking . . . and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.”
This is the question that last day scoffers will ask, says the Apostle Peter. Their argument for this erroneous reasoning is found in the following lines - “for ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.” Nothing has changed in the created order argues these false teachers. So why should we expect changes at this late date?
Peter attacks their ignorance. They have disregarded the Divine interference of the world-wide flood which destroyed everything and everyone except those in the ark (verse 6.)
Even so today there are those who poo-poo the Lord’s coming. An ancient doctrine, they say, that has no credibility. Peter says there is one thing that escapes their notice - verse 8. “Beloved, with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”
Time is not a factor with the Lord of eternity. He is not slack concerning His promise (verse 9a). Why? He is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (verse 9b). Very simple. He wants us to be about His business of sharing His good news with those who are perishing. He wants no one to perish but desires that all should come to a change of mind regarding His truth.
That is your job and mine. So how are we doing with our Father’s business? Let’s read over II Peter chapter 3 and let the Holy spirit convict us. He is coming back, beloved. My prayer for you is that of Peter:
. . . but grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. II Peter 3:18
God bless. Love to you all,

To live as God intended from the beginning, we must focus our hearts and minds on Him…Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We are created for an eternal relationship with God! But not everyone will be received by Jesus, only those who have been chosen by the Father to give as a gift to His Son, and those empowered to live this earthly life through the gift of the Holy Spirit to live within them! Faith is the victory that overcomes the world. But not all are given the gift of faith that leads to belief and obedience to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
John 6:35-40
35 Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst. 36 "But I said to you that you have seen Me, and yet do not believe. 37 "All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out. 38 "For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. 39 "This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. 40 "For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day."
John 5:39-40
39 "You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; 40 and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.
Matt 22:14
many are called, but few are chosen."
Rom 10:17
faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Many hear the gospel, the “good news” of Jesus and do not respond in faith, because…
John 15:12
You did not choose Me but I chose you…
John 6:44
"No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him;
John 18:9
"Of those whom You gave Me I have lost none."
John 14:1-3
"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
Jesus is certainly coming again. There is an appointed time for His return. We do not know when but we can be prepared by living lives that are pleasing to Him, obedient to His Word… “Love God, love others!” His Work and plan for His creation will be fulfilled!
Rev 22:12-13
12 "Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done. 13 "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end."
Rev 22:20
Amen. Come (quickly), Lord Jesus!
