Your Spiritual Armor

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Ephesians 6:10-11

When it was time for David to go out and face the giant Goliath, King Saul dressed David in his own armor. But David took the armor off because he was not used to wearing it and approached Goliath with only his staff and his sling and five stones (1 Samuel 17:38-40).

Centuries later, armor was still being used by soldiers who were preparing for battle. In the first century A.D., Roman soldiers wore helmets, breastplates, belts, and sandals—and carried a shield and sword. Paul made a point of saying that Christians engaging in spiritual warfare do not wear the armor of soldiers—reminiscent of David (2 Corinthians 10:3-5). We fight with a different kind of armor protecting us. But Paul used the familiar image of a Roman soldier to illustrate the Christian’s spiritual armor: truth, righteousness, the Gospel, faith, salvation, and the Word of God (Ephesians 6:14-17).

Spend time meditating on this armor and how it can protect you when you are attacked by Satan.

Our enemies are on every side, and so must our armor be.

2 Cor 10:3-6

3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 6 And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.

To win the war against Satan, his demons, evil, temptation, deception and separation from God, we need to fight with spiritual protection and weapons! Though we are not weighed down with physical armor, we have full protection and the greatest of weapons, as given to us in Ephesians chapter six.  May we always be ready to engage in battle, prepared with the full armor of God.

Should you spend a few minutes today in Ephesians chapter six and be ready for what comes your way today?

Send me an email, message or text if you need prayer today!  I will gladly pray for you in your battle!
