How Do You Change the World?

When Jesus is Everything

You are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

— 1 Corinthians 12:27

How do you change the world?

We often imagine world changers as extraordinary individuals—strong, fearless, larger-than-life. But the way God designed it, changing the world happens when ordinary people join together under the lordship of Jesus, each playing their part in His body.

We can’t change the world working alone. But when the church works together, when we lay down pride, selfishness, and comparison, something powerful happens. We become more than individuals trying to do good—we become the body of Christ alive in the world. And that’s exciting.

That’s why Paul reminds us: You are a part of something bigger. Your gifts, your presence, and your obedience matter—not in isolation but in community.

Together, we carry the gospel to a broken world.

Together, we shine brighter than we ever could alone.

The world won’t be changed by a hero but by a family of believers walking in unity and love.

That’s God’s plan—and you’re a part of it. Who will you partner with in the church today to change the world for Christ?

PRAY

Lord, thank You for making me part of Your body, the church. Show me my role in Your mission and help me join with others in love to make Your gospel known.

The End of Willpower

He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. — 2 Peter 1:4

We can’t change ourselves by sheer willpower. I’ve tried, you’ve tried, and we know it doesn’t last. But God has given us something far better: His “very great and precious promises.” Through them we participate in God’s divine nature and escape the world’s corruption.

Together, we carry the gospel to a broken world. Together, we shine brighter than we ever could alone.

My friend John Elmore, a pastor, tells this story from his own life. He was an alcoholic. He tried over and over to quit by his own strength, but nothing worked. Finally, he surrendered to God and accessed the power of the Holy Spirit—and that’s when real change began. He told me how Ephesians 6:10–17, Paul’s teaching about the armor of God, impacted him. These verses tell us to put on the breastplate of righteousness and take up the sword of the Spirit, the shield of faith, and other forms of protection and tools for battle. The passage ends like this:

Pray in the Spirit on all occasions. — v. 18

We don’t just suit up and stand there in our spiritual armor—we’re in a battle and we must call on God to go with us. Through His power we’re able to have victory and change.

Lasting change isn’t about trying harder. It’s about depending on the Spirit, arming ourselves with His protection, trusting God’s promises, and letting His divine nature work in us.

PRAY

Thank You for giving me Your promises and Your Spirit. Teach me to put on the full armor of God every day and depend on Your power, not my own.

We can be used for great change in this world if we allow the Holy Spirit to fill us and we surrender our will to the will of God!  May we learn to be obedient as Jesus did through many sufferings and do it all for the glory of God!
